Gail asked Susan Mallery:

How did you come up for the idea for Mischief Bay?

Susan Mallery Truthfully, I kind of wrote myself into a corner. ;) When I started writing the Blackberry Island books, my original plan was for it to be an ongoing series. The problem is, I made the island too small. By the time I was writing book 3, Evening Stars, I realized that I couldn't sustain a longer series on an island that small. There just wasn't enough opportunity there for diversity of careers. No industry, nothing for my characters to do that other characters hadn't already done in the earlier books.

But I love writing small-town books, so I knew I wanted to create another place with a strong sense of community. That's how Mischief Bay was born. It's a quirky beach town with a definite character all its own, but it's also close to L.A., which opens up a whole world of opportunity to my characters. Small town charm, big town amenities. The best of both worlds.

I hope you'll love The Girls of Mischief Bay, Gail!
