Ara Sorima asked Sabrina Jeffries:

Hello! Good day, Ms. Sabrina! I really really love your works, specially The School for Heiresses Series! I've read it over and over and over again haha! :) I've been finding your books in every bookstore, so you can say that I'm a die-hard fan. LOL! But anyways, as a fan, I would like to know when did you start to write novels?

Sabrina Jeffries Hi, Arabella! So glad you enjoy my books. I can always use another die-hard fan!

You might say I started writing novels when I was in college and wrote a YA book that will never see the light of day--it was sort of derivative of The Narnia Chronicles--but that book was less than a hundred pages long, so I'm not sure it counts. I wrote my first full novel (a romance) in the summer of 1987 (that too will never see the light of day--it was pretty bad). And I wrote my first novel that got published, a historical romance, from 1988 to 1989 while home with my brand new baby. So I've been writing a long time, nearly 30 years!
