What do you think of the developments, the "illiberalism" in Hungary. Are you going to write about it?
Olen Steinhauer
It's a serious problem, and is one of the reasons I'm choosing to raise my daughter largely in the US. Hungary's not the only European country facing this wave of nationalism and illiberalism, but things are particularly bad there because the previous government, the Socialists, let their corruption be exposed, which in turn angered the voters so much that the current party, Fidesz, was voted in with so much of a majority that they've been able to simply rewrite the constitution. That's a terrifying situation.
Will I write about it? I doubt I'll base an entire book on the situation, but it'll certainly come up along the way.

Follow up question. I'm a naive romantic about characters I connect with, and probably missed the point of the conclusion. If Cee did not get "popped", went home to cardboard hubby who has a fatal MCI, she gets pulled back into the world and meets up with Milo down the road, that would be an amazing interplay between two brilliant, creative, chararcters, but that's probably why you write for a living and I don't?

Hi Olen, Milo Weaver is a fantastic character, and I love reading about him. I find most of the flawed characters are generally the best. Please don't kill him off in one of your books. I have always wondered if Authors carry around a pen and paper in case you come up with an idea for your books? Thank you for writing such great books and entertaining us. Thanks Todd

I found the sections in "An American Spy" dealing with the spy in China extremely refreshing. Any thoughts of writing a spy novel from a non-US perspective? Also, thanks for the many hours of great reading you've given. I'm not terribly old yet, but I've still come to the realization that I have a finite number of readable books left. So I'd rather spend most of my time on great books.
