Here is my answer to the same question I answered earlier:
Stars are often used to represent fate and destiny, and in the past they were used to make predictions about the future. Star-crossed lovers (like Romeo and Juliet) are lovers that cannot be together because of something like fate. The expression 'written in the stars' means that something is meant to be. Someone's lucky star is a star they can make wishes on and is especially for them.
So, the fault in our stars means the fault/mistakes in our destinies and our fates, and the problems that lay in store for us because of fate (represented by the star) and things we have no control over.
If you've read the book then you know what the fault is. :)

Firstly it is from the quote in the letter "The fault dear Brutus is not in our stars but in ourselves."
Secondly, it is because there was something 'fundamentally incorporable' about them.

It is a quote from Julius Caesar. It means that they can not prevent their faults.
Brianna
John Green named it after a Julius Cesar quote but with the opposite meaning than the quote.

reread the part when Gus and Hazel are at the restaurant, or re-watch it. I think that will help to.

On a very basic and appearance level the title could be taken as a reference to our idols and the things we look up to in our lives and the faults found in them.
Emma
It is quoted in the book and also I think it's because we all have faults and hazel and gus's cancer is there fault

In my mind it is called this because it was written in the stars for them to love each other at first sight, but the fault is that they are both fighting for their life with cancer.

There was a Shakespeare quotation from Julius Caesar (I think!): "The fault, dear Brutus is not in our stars,/But in ourselves, that we are underlings". Also saying that you cannot control the future, probably a reference to star-crossed lovers.

Its from some shakespear thing

It is a quote from a Shakespear play (Julius Caesar) that says "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars / But in ourselves, that we are underlings."
Anvil :)
It was called the fault in our stars because the book was based off the true story of Esther Earl who John Green knew and her nickname was Star

The phrase "Written in the stars" is meaning that the two people's fates/destiny's are in line saying there is fault within the stars is saying that because the fault/mistakes in there fates/destiny's is the problem or problems to come ahead are because of fate or our stars.
