How do you keep coming up with such fresh ideas for your stories?

I find inspiration everywhere. A lot of times, I get an emotion from a song that inspires a story. And often the story that results has absolutely nothing to do with the song’s lyrics. It was just this magical moment of pure emotion that came to me. That happened just this past week, actually, but the idea is still too new for me to talk about.
I also have several writer friends who are part of a plot group with me. A couple times a year, we get together and help each other brainstorm book ideas. It’s really helpful to have different viewpoints, and to play off each other.
