Sophia asked Gail Carson Levine:

Here's a writing question for you: :) How can you tell when your writing is good compared to other books? I've been told that my writing is well done, but I can't really tell for myself.

Gail Carson Levine I try not to compare my writing with other people's. I'm learning to write poems right now, and I can't tell if my poems are any good, although I have opinions about the work of other students. It's hardest to see our own work clearly. But I can usually tell if my fiction is succeeding. I think the difference is experience. I'd suggest you not judge your writing and just keep going. Even now, I don't decide whether what I've written is good or not, just whether it accomplishes what I set out to do.
