I think he was being truthful, that it was simply for if anyone got injured on the island.

I was wondering the same thing ! I initially thought that it was somehow related to the fake organ transplants from the beginning of the book...but then I remembered that that was Nick's con, not Griffin's! So I have no idea what the medical room in the mansion was for, unless it was simply because he was a fugitive and would have to bring Indonesian doctors to his house to treat him if needed :)
