When and why did you start writing? Where is your computer...what room is best for you? Music in the background? Who?...Thanks BMW

Susan Mallery Hi, Barbara. I started writing in college because there was a woman who taught an evening course titled, “How to Write a Romance Novel.” She’d held it a couple times, and I was too busy (majoring in Accounting). But I was so intrigued because I loved to read romance. Finally, I decided that busy or no, I really wanted to do it. I was taking a full course load, and this was a non-credited evening adult education class. By the time the class ended, I knew this was what I wanted to do with my life.

My computer is in my home office, which is upstairs in my house. Two big windows to get as much light in there as possible (not always a lot in Seattle). When I’m writing, I don’t listen to music, but I definitely do when I’m brainstorming. Pop, country. Sometimes I listen to white noise type music, just to trigger different areas of my brain.
