Haha, it's not exactly that; but I do think that the process of losing a job -- whether by chance or by choice -- is a time when adventures tend to happen. I guess it's like any big life change; it shoves you into that liminal zone for a while, and who knows what (or who) you'll find there. As for Moffat: no, I didn't really know about Stephen Moffat at the time I was writing the book. And, I'm somewhat afraid to confess: I still haven't seen any Dr. Who, old or new!

What bike did Lois buy for $50? Is it a univega? A Huffy? A Trek? Is it a road bike, a mountain bike a cruiser? This is so unimportant, I know... but I feel like it's a fair question to ask. Yesterday, had someone told me there'd be a work of fiction that would make me care about sourdough, I'd call bullshit. And yet, here I am, obsessed. And I want to know what bike she rode to the pier.

Most of the businesses in Sourdough are pretty obvious as to what real-life businesses they're inspired by (e.g. Greenlight coffee = Blue Bottle, Cafe Candide = Chez Panisse... I think). What is the soup delivery place inspired by? The descriptions of that soup are so good, I'd love to check it out some time!
