Darlene asked Andrew Pyper:

Mr Pyper, First let me say I loved reading your book Demonologist In writing the your book "The Damned"/ Where did you get your inspiration from to write this fantastic spine -tingling super natural thriller?. And who where you characters based off of??

Andrew Pyper Thanks, Darlene! My characters come from two sources: the protagonist is usually some version of myself (however many major differences there may be between us!), and the other characters are versions of people I have known. Thankfully, I have never known an Ash in my life (!), but I have known some compelling, beautiful, but empty people (I suppose sociopaths). You take what you have experienced of people and run with it. But in addition to the characters, you have to combine them with the feelings you have toward them, and for me, this comes down to family. The Damned is a supernatural thriller that is, at heart, about family - the ways we are connected no matter the crimes between us. How we are damned with family and damned without.
