What do you do when you need to step away from a story? Maybe cleanse your board so to speak? If you feel like you're losing focus with your characters or their journey. Or you don't feel as though where it's heading is moving in an organic way.

Scott Hildreth I've never had to step away. For me, the story unravels, and I simply describe what happens.

I have had characters take off and end up doing things I'd never imagine. So, back up...try a different angle. Not always does it work. Sometimes (Mike Ripton) the character is so strong, he or she does what he does and I can't help it.
