Nope, Cinder didn't have to go to school because her cyborg brain is essentially an automatic learning course. If she hears of a term or concept she's not familiar with, her brain automatically looks it up and feeds her the answers, so school would be sort of redundant. (At least, on the academic side, though there are of course social aspects to school that she missed out on.)
