Jean asked Jayne Ann Krentz:

Do you have any trouble changing gears when you're writing as Jayne Castle or Amanda Quick? Is there anything you do differently (music you listen to, etc.) depending on which hat you're wearing?

Jayne Ann Krentz Jean, thanks for the question. The answer is, no, I don't have a problem moving between my three worlds -- but I honestly don't know why I don't have a problem. All I can tell you is that I think it speaks to the importance of the fictional landscape of the novel. Historicals (which I write as Amanda Quick) automatically command a more formal tone. The futuristics (which I write as Jayne Castle) just naturally lend themselves to over-the-top-scenarios. And contemporaries demand a more modern voice. I don't know how to explain it. The shift just happens naturally. Probably the same way readers shift gears when they move between various landscapes. We (writers and readers) are all in this together.
