How do you get inspired to write?

Kate Padilla I get inspired by what I observe. Sometimes it's from television, movies or music -- trying to complete a story that the tv show or movie didn't go far enough into, or finding the story within a song I listen to. Other times it's from my community and job. I'm a journalist, so I have a pretty good idea of what the issues are in my community. I also write the obituaries, and it's sometimes interesting to imagine the life of someone as you're reading their obit.
