Hi Sandra, I also am a big fan of your books! I wanted to ask if you have a college degree, and if that has helped at all in your writing process. Also, do you get ideas from today's headlines and news worthy stories??

Actually, I left college (TCU) to marry to the man who would one day dare me to sit down and try my hand at writing, and then a few years back, TCU awarded me an Honorary Doctorate degree. By then I'd written dozens upon dozens of books. I suppose the short answer is no. Write what you know, but also what interests you and/or intrigues you.
Deadline came from from my USO tour in 2011 and Rainwater from an old family story but for the most part, I DON'T get ideas from the headlines--or friends and family either!
