Keep writing. Doesn't matter if you don't get a publisher or win a contest. Write for yourself. Write what you enjoy.
Get advice from fellow writers, but be careful with the advice. Not everything works for everyone. If it doesn't feel right, then it's probably not the right advice for you. There are a lot of groups online and most communities have writers groups. Find one and join. Also, attend workshops if you can afford them. I attend one locally every year.
