Nikki asked Kristen Ashley:

I'm sure this has been asked, but I was wondering, when you add certain music in your books, do the songs influence certain scenes, or the other way around? For example, in Fire Inside, there's a heavy Bob Seger presence and Hop calls Lanie 'Lady'. Did the nickname come first, or the song "You'll Acomp'ny Me" ? (btw, every time I hear any Seger songs I want to reread Fire Inside!)

Kristen Ashley Music influences me in a variety of ways. I can hear a song and "see" a scene or I can be in the middle of writing a story and hear a song that's perfect for that couple or I can hear a song and it'll inspire an entire story.

The last one, the song "Say Something" did that for Deacon and Cassidy's story. I heard that song and their entire tale (well, the bones of it) struck me and away I went.

[SPOILER] But, for instance, I just happened to hear the song "Tush" when I was uncertain if Ally would strip or not in ROCK CHICK REVOLUTION. When I heard that, I KNEW she was gonna strip! And do it to that song.

As for "You'll Accomp'ny Me" I've always loved that song and knew if I used it that it would have to be perfect. It definitely fit Hop and Lanie in a variety of ways but it was more about "We've Got Tonight" at first. As the story progressed, I just happened to hear "You'll Accomp'ny Me" and I was blown away because I thought for sure Bob got in my head in the building of Hop (and he probably did)! It was perfection. So I used it. And I was right (according to me), it was perfect!
