Joy asked Jennifer Ashley:

When you write do you need silence or do you play music?

Jennifer Ashley I like to write to music that doesn't have words. I'm a sort-of musician in my other life, and music can relax and inspire me more than anything else. Not only does the music drown out distracting noises, but it stimulates my creativity. I need music without words, because I'll stop and listen the lyrics instead of write. I play guitar a little myself, so I tend to like guitarists (rock, jazz, and blues). I have friends who are fabulous musicians and songwriters and their music can also inspire me.
