I was particularly interested in how the people left at home coped, with the men away and farms needing to be run and families to be kept going, all the while fearing for loved ones and not knowing how long the conflict would last.

I did not like Susannah but I would be really interested in a short story from her point of view, especially her first impressions of the farm, her relationship with Jack. I saw that you have posted a mini story from Charlie's point of view on your website. Any chance you would do one from Susannah's point of view some day? I absolutely loved the series and I am really looking forward to the next boook.
