Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Preston Lewis I enjoy reading 19th Century history so I've always been fascinated by the American Civil War. The Battle of Franklin has always intrigued me since taking a course on Civil War History. As it is one of the more obscure battles of the Civil War, I was especially drawn to it because of its dramatic elements and tragedy. I researched it for two decades before deciding I was ready to write it. "Too Much the Lion" is modeled after the classic Civil War Novel "The Killer Angels" by Michael Shaara. Both books culminate with disastrous frontal charges by Confederate troops against entrenched Union lines. The assault at Franklin covered twice the distance with almost twice as many soldiers involved in the more famous Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg..
