Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
I enjoy reading 19th Century history so I look for a topic or incident that I want to learn more about. If it's a well known event, such as the battle of Little Bighorn that I am researching now, I try to find a way to fictionalize it in a new way. If it's a more obscure topic, then I try to develop it in an entertaining manner. Growing up, I had a pair of aunts who were superb quilters. They would cut scraps of materials out in little squares or triangles, then sew them together into a beautiful quilt. When I am researching a topic, I use the interesting facts as the squares that I try to stitch together into a beautiful read.
