Angela Schultz asked this question about The Blue Hour:
Am I the only person that thought the blue lights at the end of the book meant that Becker was going to be saved? Most of the reviews I have read elude to Becker dying. Maybe I am just a little too optimistic :-)

In retrospect - looking back at the narrative the slow build up to Graces' nature was obvious even if it was played coyly - Becker may have died, may not have died - the author wasn't able to decide so the ambiguity. The last chapter leading to the murder or attempted murder becoming more fragmented and abstract read as if it were a work in progress. Clearly what Hawkins needed was a more diligent and rigors editor . . . so we have an ambiguous ending to a novel that had atmosphere but little story and little full character development. It was a disappointing read - which I left from time to time - and simply pushed through to call it done . . . (less)
