I nearly didn't want to ask you this because I seem to be asking a lot of questions about your book. Your characters have been waking ME up at night and telling ME what to do! I don't recall this happening in the past. Perhaps your characters are just very real, as well as having a life of their own. Is this something you have also experienced after reading another author's novel?

I feel like I know Ken Kesey's brilliant cast of characters in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest on a personal level.
I miss them from time to time, and end up reading the novel again, just to spend some time in their company.

Thank you for such a moving novel. I just couldn't put it down. A question then: Why do you think they're calling it Science Fiction?

Yes, it's a great answer. The boulder image is such a perfect explanation, and this experience of the characters seizing the dialogue out of your hands sounds rather exciting. Living with a cast of independent voices in your head would certainly be a challenge - and I bet it's hard to turn them off at times. Have you often had to jot things down during the night when you are hoping to sleep?
