Lori Miller asked this question about All the Colors of the Dark:
Contains spoilers: I was confused over the Nix and Tooms tie in. So, they were in a relationship but why did Nix keep it from Saint for so long? It wasn’t like she was anti-abortion, or homophobic. I think it was revealed too late in the book. I was so upset when Patch was incarcerated over Jimmy’s death and then we find out it could have all been prevented. I get that Patch needed to meet the young prisoner though.
judith By the time Saint was old enough for Nix to discuss his relationship with Tooms, he couldn't tell her because he was covering-up the illegal abortions…moreBy the time Saint was old enough for Nix to discuss his relationship with Tooms, he couldn't tell her because he was covering-up the illegal abortions & the truth about Callie. He kept trying to divert Saint's suspicions off Tooms & stall an investigation into Callie's disappearance (death.) As for Jimmy, his death was accidental but he abused Saint so a reckoning with Patch at some point was inevitable. (less)
