Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Marc Zimmer Before becoming a book, Illuminating Disease was the class I developed for Semester at Sea. In the spring 2012 semester, 16 students took the class and learned about fluorescent proteins and Chagas disease (in Brazil), malaria (in Ghana), AIDS (with a field trip to an AIDS clinic in South Africa), dengue fever (India and Vietnam), cancer (China), heart disease (with a field trip to the RIKEN Research Center in Japan), and brain disease (United States).
