I actually liked the novellas better than the first book, but after the second book things get better again!

The first book is the weakest book in my mind, but the series are great. The books get better as they go, with the third being AMAZING. I definitely recommend reading them

Yes, it is. Although a lot of people disliked Celaena (I didn't), I know if they just bothered to read the other books they will get to understand and like her.
