What were you doing or how were you inspired to create the domestic dynamic of Adine, Josh and Orion?

Jacob M. Appel I'm a big fan of love triangles in fiction: Anna Karenina, The Scarlet Letter, Wuthering Heights, The Great Gatsby, The Sun Also Rises, Sophie's Choice, etc. It is rather remarkable how many of the classic novels hinge of these romantic triads. I view "La Tristesse des Herrisons" as a love triangle in precisely the same vein, although Orion is a bit more prickly than Robert Cohen or Arthur Dimmesdale -- but only by a quill or two.
