Have you ever considered writing a sequel to Pay It Forward?

Hi Mike. Short version: No. I can't say I never considered it, because the question has been raised. But I ultimately decided against it. There's that old "no conflict, no story" rule, so I feel I would have to snatch the fictional success of Pay It Forward--albeit temporarily--away from the world to create a sequel.
This year Simon & Schuster launched Pay It Forward: Young Readers' Edition, which is suitable for kids as young as eight. I thought that was a good way to keep Pay It Forward going, maybe better than trying to extend the story.
