Where do you get your ideas for your novels, and what advice do you have for beginners who would like to be a writer?

Hi Scott. The first one is hard to answer, because it really is pure imagination. It's a process like daydreaming. Your train of thought takes you all these places and you can't really track how you got there.
The second question is easier. I would say, 1) Write. Sounds basic, I know. But it's amazing how many people want to be writers but don't get words down on paper. 2) Don't write in a vacuum. Open your work to the opinions of others. It's tough, but unavoidable in the long run. Better to thicken your skin early on. 3) Make up your mind that rejection won't stop you.
