Your books feel like more than fantasy and science fiction; they offer ways of looking at life and the challenges all beings face. L.E. Modesitt Jr. Thank you for your comments. I try to raise fundamental questions about cultures and their structures and beliefs. I'd like to think that, at least sometimes, what I've written might get readers to think differently and, hopefully, more incitefully about life and the universe in which we live.

One thing that captured me with your writing was how you always seem to respect the reader to draw the conclusions with the characters, based on the evidence present. Is this something you deliberately plan, and do you ever feel that you should be spelling the conclusions out for the reader?

I read The Fires of Paratime as a boy and enjoyed the action story immensely but as an adult and a Libertarian I now see a lot more to love. Am I reading too much into your portrayal of the stagnation on Query or is there an Objectivist/Libertarian ideology?
