Scott Gillespie
Scott Gillespie asked James Field:

Who are you to bowdlerize one of America’s greatest writers? Poe’s short tales of the macabre are exquisite and succinct. Your bastardizations defiles, drains, and debilitates them. Your interpretations are reductive campfire stories that will not inspire or intrigue. You should be walled up alive, using copies of this book as bricks so at least they serve a good purpose.

James Field Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree — Poe’s originals are masterpieces. Dead Easy isn’t meant to replace them, only to give readers who struggle with the old prose a way into his chilling worlds. If it nudges someone toward reading the real Poe, then I’ll consider it a success.
