Not really a mystery, but I had a dream one night about a secret room in my grandparents basement (it was the door to my grandpa's workshop which was off limits as a kid). In the dream it led into a cavern where a cult was meeting. They called themselves the Herodites. They believed that just as Christ had a chance to come to earth and gain a body, Lucifer would also receive his opportunity to gain a body and condemn mankind. This cult was focused on killing children they suspected to be Lucifer. It was revolting but would make for a good thriller. Part of me has always wanted to write that story, but I don't actually think I could stomach it.
