If I (re)read original version of THE STAND (vs the "Complete & Uncut Edition"), will I miss out on anything that's set up or paid off in THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT?

I'm like 15 stories in, as far as I remember a character mentions the year 1990. On another story a Stephen King book from 1989 is mentioned, and in another story Twin Peaks is also mentioned. So now that I think about it, the book goes with the uncut edition.(less)
