Goodreads asked Skye Arden:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Skye Arden The House She Never Left began with a single image: a note on a kitchen table that reads don’t let him in—no signature, no explanation, written in the protagonist’s own handwriting. That eerie contradiction—something so intimate and so threatening—sparked the entire story. From there, I kept asking questions: What if memory can't be trusted? What if the house knows more than you do? And what if the person you’re most afraid of… is actually yourself? The deeper I went, the more I realized I wasn’t writing about a haunted house—I was writing about Clara, a haunted identity.
