While I love Cherokee stories and sprinkled a few into Piper McLean's story, writing a whole book about or based on Cherokee myths isn't something I would undertake, because I'm not an expert, and that should really be undertaken by a Cherokee author. The oldest and most comprehensive collection of Cherokee myths I know is "Myths of the Cherokee," collected by ethnographer James Mooney in 1900 after several years living among the Cherokee. Mooney collaborated with Will West Long, an Eastern Cherokee elder, who helped translate the tales. The work is old, but still definitely worth a read. Robert J. Conley is also worth checking out if you want info on Cherokee history and modern Cherokee life. He was Western Cherokee, and wrote the nation's authorized history. He also wrote a great book "Cherokee Medicine Man," which documents many beliefs and spiritual practices of the Cherokee. I'm not aware of any recent fiction books based on Cherokee legends by Cherokee authors, but I'd love to read them if anyone has recommendations!

Do you think that you would ever write a book where a commonly thought "monster" would be good and help the characters? Circe, Medea, and Medusa are seen as villains in the series, and I understand why this is, but I was just curious if someone else could be helpful. I would love to see Clytemnestra, Aggamendon's wife, in the series. She is "evil" for killing him after he killed her daughter. Thank you.
