How do you deal with writer’s block?

Colin Evans When writing my first recently published book the entelligent idiot I was quite lucky because I had the facts in front of me and the rest is my personal opinion so I didn't really suffer from writers block. However on one of the books I am currently writing which is science fiction I have managed to "dig myself into a hole" on several occasions and then thought oops how do I get out of this.I find the best way around it is to put it to one side for a while and do something else keeping the problem in the back of your mind and nine times out of ten it sorts itself out (hopefully)
