Deborah Finnamore
Deborah Finnamore asked John Grisham:

Hello, John. Early in your career did you have enough experience or knowledge to be able to craft your “voice?” That’s one thing I love about your books. Subjects aside, the tone and tamber of your voice that I hear in my head as I am reading is consistent and as a reader, comfortable. It helps set expectations. As an aspiring writer how much should new/young writers focus on that?

John Grisham Tough, tough question. Voice is not something you can teach, learn, or otherwise acquire. It has to come natural. Keep reading the writers with voices you admire.
