I do think that it was a bit too violent for a YA novel, but I may be wrong. Darren Shan's novel, Lord Loss, has a horrifically violent opening chapter and it's a YA best seller.
I'd like you to read any of my books, apart from my newest one, The Shadowing Coven, they are free in ePub format, or you can get them on Kindle for £0.77 or about $1.20 USD.
