Goodreads asked Sharon Hughson:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Sharon Hughson The book I'm working on now (in the beta reading stage) came from answering a bunch of what if questions. Most of the time, I use this method to generate ideas for plot and conflict in a story when I get stuck. In the case of Doomsday Dragon, I wondered, "what if there was a dragon trapped in the center of the earth?" I answered it and that sparked the next: "what if the son of a volcanologist had special powers that might help him connect with dragons?" And the questions continued for several notebook pages. At the end, I had a solid idea for the premise, characters and conflict for that novel.
