James Islington Yeah, the mechanics of Licanius were definitely a challenge to get right - they're the sorts of stories where one mistake kind of ruins the whole concept, so you have to be very detail-oriented in the execution. A lot of planning, and then a lot of making sure that small plot changes along the way didn't completely mess things up.

For the future - never say never! My current series has a mechanic that's equally challenging, albeit in a very different way, so I clearly gravitate towards telling these kinds of stories. But I'm also keen to write some stories that are perhaps a little shorter and simpler, too, so - we'll see!
