(view spoiler)[Hi, Django! I just finished the Burningblade and Silvereye series and enjoyed it very much. One question about something that was bugging me - in the epilogue to Blood of the Chosen, Ashok thinks about the world that the ghouls made hostile to his kind, which seemed like a reference to the Plague. Emperor of Ruin indicates that the Plague is a result of Ashok’s work, as research by Maya. Are the two in conflict? (hide spoiler)]

So glad you enjoyed the series! I went back and looked at this and tried to remember what I was thinking -- I wish I could say there was something clever, but I suspect it's honestly just a mistake. The best I can say is that Ashok has a somewhat tenuous grip on sanity!

I just finished The Thousand Names and really enjoyed it! I rekindled my longstanding love of the Napoleonic Wars from Sharpe, Hornblower, and Aubrey–Maturin (high praise). As I move on to the rest of the series, I was wondering if you had a recommendation for where a first-time reader should read The First Kill and The Penitent Damned. I assume The Shadow of Elysium should be read between books 2 and 3? Thanks!
