Goodreads asked Patricia Bracewell:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Patricia Bracewell It's learning that my words have resonated with readers; and readers have been extremely generous in sharing that with me through e-mails via my website or in posts on Facebook. Partly it's the satisfaction of a job done well, but there's a much deeper emotional component, too. In my own experience as a reader, some books have moved me so much that I return to them again and again. When someone responds to my own book in that way, I am humbled and astonished and enormously gratified.
