Melanie Dickerson Hi, Samantha! Yes, they definitely can be read as stand alones and you won't feel like you're missing something. But if you want to read them in order, The Healer's Apprentice comes first. The Merchant's Daughter is not tied to the other books, except that there is a loose tie to The Princess Spy.
