I'm confused, reviews seem to indicate this is the first book in a series; however, it isn't shelved as such. Is it the start of a series or a standalone? (This is crucial to me since prefer not to start a series until it's complete and I've read a review saying the author has a habit of starting a series and then moving on to another new series before finishing the previous one.)

And, yes, the author has previously written the first book in a series then proceeded to start another series without finishing the previous one. Therefore, I would recommend you and anyone else not wanting to possibly wait MANY years for a completed series to avoid this and possibly the author.(less)
