A Goodreads user asked this question about 1Q84 (1Q84, #1-3):
“once a gun appears in a story, it has to be fired.” He repeats this many times and in the end Aomame's gun is NOT fired. Many plot points are left unresolved: * the Little People are spinning something made out of beard hair - what is it? * What happens to the baby? * What about the pact? Aomame didn't die * What about the people that Sakigaki sent to follow the couple? * what else?
Marcin - Aomame's gun is NOT fired. This is a testament to the fact that 1Q84 is not your typical novel with predictable storytelling and happy ending. Real…more - Aomame's gun is NOT fired. This is a testament to the fact that 1Q84 is not your typical novel with predictable storytelling and happy ending. Real life is too complex for that.

- the Little People are spinning something made out of beard hair - what is it? Ukishala was special towards the end (he could see the two moons). Little people are creating his dotha (i.e. clone), de facto, bringing him back to live.

- What happens to the baby? Baby will be the new leader and voice for the LP in the new word. LP have always existed.

- What about the pact? Aomame didn't die. She could have died on the freeway and resourced. Just like one of the nurses had been.

- What about the people that Sakigaki sent to follow the couple? Nothing. They arrived too late.

- what else? There is nothing else.(less)
