How do you get accurate character development on so many diverse types of men and women? You cover Chinatown, suburbia, ghettos and metropolitan politics with realistic characters.

Tami Hoag It's part research, part life experience, and part magic. I've been a lot of places and soaked up as much of the atmosphere and as much about the people I encounter as possible. When I write a character, that character is very real to me. I literally hear their voices and feel what its like to be in their skin. That's the magic part, because I don't know why or how that happens. I always describe it as being a lot like method acting.
