Jay Simpson asked Tami Hoag:

I have just self published my first novel after several refusals and a broken contract by a US publisher. Did you experience many refusals of your first novel and would you have considered self publishing if it had been as easy as it is now in the electronic book age?

Tami Hoag I was very fortunate in that I wrote one book that didn't sell, but the next one did, and I've been working ever since. Back then--1987--there was no such thing as the Internet, let alone e-books. That's a brand new world I admit I don't know much about. I want to see my books published in every format possible--book, e-book, audio--so I would probably still go the traditional route if I was just starting. But self-publishing e-books is certainly one way to get your work out there, and have it be seen, and you never know what may come of it. Best of luck!
