Amanda asked this question about Lonesome Dove (Lonesome Dove, #1):
Should I read this series in order they were published or chronologically? Does it really matter which way? Thank you!
Fred White Here's how I read them, and it's how I recommend reading them.

1. Lonesome Dove-because, well, it's Lonesome Dove.

Here's how I read them, and it's how I recommend reading them.

1. Lonesome Dove-because, well, it's Lonesome Dove.
2. Commanche Moon-because it's pretty good and you get to know Lonesome Dove characters better.
3. Dead Man's Walk-first chronologically, but you don't want to read it first because it's the worst of all the books. It's long-winded and much of the story is pointless and not what you would expect for early Gus and Woodrow.
4. Streets of Laredo-because it's a fitting end to the series and I like it nearly as much as Lonesome Dove. It covers themes about marriage, aging and strong women.(less)
