No, I don't believe so. Rainbow has stated that she's not writing as Cath or as Gemma, the fictional author of the original Simon Snow series. So it should be a different plot than the one featured in Cath's fanfiction. It is the same world and characters, though, if that's what you mean.

It's a combination of the Simon Snow books that Cath reads, the fanfic that Cath writes, and Rowell's own additions.

Okay, so based off of what Rainbow said, she stated that she'll be writing Carry On as herself. Not as Gemma or as Cath. Also, to be noted, this book is actually written in first person. So, very much different from Gemma and Cath as they both wrote Simon and Baz in third person. If you have a chance to pick up the Collectors Edition of Fangirl, there's an excerpt you can read.

Yes. Even though it doesn't mention Cath or Wren or Levi, or anyone from Fangirl. This is the one and only Carry On, Simon which we got excerpts from in Fangirl. Rainbow said she was writing it because she found that she really enjoyed writing the small sections in Fangirl. @Annie - I like your profile picture.

Unlike what many people are saying, Carry On is NOT the same story as in Fangirl. Rowell adopted the characters and world again, but she didn't want to write in Cath's or Gemma's perspectives. She wanted to write in her own. She mentions in the author note this as well as she combined many different worlds of chosen ones, there's references to Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and more. Overall, Carry On and Wayward Son are two separate entities from the FanFiction Cath wrote in Fangirl.

I personally like to believe the book is Cath's fanfic because in Fangirl, her fanfiction is "Carry On, Simon," Simon's final year at Watford where he and Baz fall in love. When I saw the book in the store, I automatically assumed (and knew) that it was Cath's fanfiction written by Rowell. Great book.

I think it is. The fanfic was called "Carry On, Simon". Call me a perv but I am super fangirl and I just hope they don't censor it a lot.
Autumn
I think so. I think that we will get more info closer to when the book comes out.
Jessica
If not exactly like the one Cath was writing in Fangirl, it does have its origins from there
Maya 8D2B4
yeah I literally stopped reading fangirl to read this cause of how interesting she made it seem
Kanan Jarrus
Actually no, this is completely different. both may have the title of Carry On, but neither have ties to one another!
Kate
I would say YES - This is the fan fiction Cath was writing - the story of Simon and Baz.
Claire
Yes but it isn't mentioned in this book.
Amaya
thats what i was wondering....
Lois Tucker
According to endnotes by the author, yes. The story/characters stayed with her and she decided to expand on the story in Fangirl.

I'm really happy Rainbow wrote this novel. I was fascinated with the snippets we heard about Simon and Baz in Fangirl and always wanted to read more about their world. I'm really enjoying the book so far and I think the love story is super adorable and reminds me of Cath's fanfic. I do not like Agatha at all.

I believe it is? Maybe, remember in Fangirl that throughout the entire story Rainbow Rowell gave us little fragments of the fanfiction that Cath was writing? When I finished the book I actually expected a continuation of it, and well, I guess here it is, and it is the fanfiction apparently.
I really think that is going to be.. Like a story about how Cath started to write the fanfiction apart from what Rainbow said in Fangirl, but this one is going to have the entire story. I waiting for it, I really want to read it.

Gillian
Not sure but she said it's going to be an official story of Simon and Baz.
