Pamela Harmon asked Jeffrey Colvin:

Hello Mr. Colvin, My book club is readying your book Africaville and will discuss it at our April gathering. Do you have a list of questions that we could use in discussion of the book? Have you visited the Africville museum in Canada? Why did you decide to write the book? Have you written other books?

Jeffrey Colvin Hello Pamela
Thanks for reaching out.
Yes, I have visited the museum commemorating Africville. I became interested in the community, many years ago when I was working on a series of short stories set along the Alabama highway between Selma to Montgomery, the route taken by marchers for voting rights in the 1960s. Many rural towns in Alabama have fewer residents and some no longer exist. I was intrigued by this community near Halifax that likewise no longer exists and thus wanted to learn more about it and through my research decided to imagine a story where a family that lived in Africville might have a connection to the southern United States, hence the novel was born.
