I have been such a fan of yours, I was really disappointed to hear that publishers were not excited about your recent suggestions. Would you ever consider some sort of self publishing since you have such a keen fanbase? There were a few series that the publishers didn't continue like Wildwood that I wonder if you might want to continue if you had freedom to write whatever you liked and knew it could be published?

Juliet Marillier Hi Nicole and thanks for the question. I am not really keen on self publishing. I love to write, but don't love the idea of handling all the tecnicalities, or dealing with publishing platforms, as well as doing all the marketing and promotion myself. I feel like that would take so much energy I wouldn't be able to do the writing part. Self-publishing works really well for some writers but that is not really the path for me. I am doing a new series with a local publishing house here in Australia, and we hope to get that distributed fairly widely, though the initial edition will be mostly for Australia and New Zealand. The first of those two books, The Amber Owl, should be published in early 2025. With this smaller publishing house (New Dawn) I do have more creative freedom. However, I'm unlikely to continue an existing series with them because that's just not the way it works.
